Are pool-view rooms in Egyptian resorts actually close to the pool?

TL;DR
A pool-view room does not always mean direct pool access: some rooms overlook palm trees and lawns, and reaching the pool may require walking past reception and down stairs. Ask the hotel for the building location and pool distance before booking.
If you want to leave your room and swim immediately, a “pool view” label alone is not enough. Ask the hotel in advance for a specific building and floor close to the pool.
In some buildings marketed around the pool area, the view may be of palm trees and lawn rather than the swimming area itself. Guests may need to walk to reception and go down stairs to reach the pool.
For a quieter stay, do not choose solely by the “pool view” category. Request a room in a quieter building, away from the busiest pool area and daytime entertainment.
