TL;DR
Yes, cats roam freely at many Egyptian resorts — they sleep on balcony chairs on the ground floor and may enter rooms through open doors. Upper floor rooms are more peaceful.
The resort has many cats that sleep on ground-floor balcony chairs during the day — the same chairs guests use to dry clothes. If you'd rather not share your furniture with them, book a room above the ground floor.
Ground-floor rooms offer shaded terraces in the heat, but leaving the door open at night risks cats wandering in. Second-floor rooms are more secure in that regard, though warmer.
Cats are most active in the evenings — they roam around the club area and near the Sea Life reception, sometimes following guests and even performing tricks.
