How do towels and room water work at Egyptian all-inclusive resorts?

Based on 1 discussions with 3 participants · Last activity: 7 days ago

TL;DR

Towels are issued on a card system, but extras are easy to get with small tips. Room water is replenished during cleaning — just tell the housekeeper how many bottles you need, or call reception for more.

The standard water allocation is two bottles per person per day. Tell the housekeeper your preferred amount and they'll leave that many during each cleaning. If you run out, call reception and water arrives within 5–10 minutes.

Some housekeepers may be less attentive — skipping water refills even when tips are left. It's not a big deal: you can grab water directly from the housekeeper or order via reception. Bed linen and towels are still changed regardless.

Towels are managed on a card-deposit system: hand in a card, get a towel. Requesting an extra towel (e.g. a third one for beach trips) is usually no problem. With a small daily tip of around $1, pool attendants will set up your sunbeds, add an extra towel, and swap them for fresh ones in the afternoon. Return all towels in the evening to get your cards back.
