Water in the mini-fridge is refilled specifically when housekeeping cleans the room. Hang the 'clean room' door tag — even without one, staff will still bring water. This usually works smoothly, and empty bottles left around get collected too.

Housekeeping will clean and restock items if you ask them personally, but don't expect it to happen automatically. It's better to speak directly with the cleaner rather than go through reception.

Hotels don't officially refuse to provide water, but you often have to catch the cleaner in person — for example, find them after lunch, and they'll hand out one bottle per guest in the room (often around 4 bottles for a family). Reception typically won't resolve this, saying it isn't their job.
