How strict is hotel security at Egyptian resorts (ID checks at the gate)?

After a fire broke out in one wing, guests were evacuated overnight to pool loungers without passports or documents; no one was injured (some jumped from the 2nd floor). In the morning the smell of smoke lingered in that section's hallways, while the opposite wing of the same U-shaped building wasn't evacuated at all and stayed calm — worth asking about room location at check-in.

When leaving the hotel grounds through the outer gate, security asked for the room number and surname, and repeated the same check when guests returned. A wristband alone wasn't enough to get through.

Guests were stopped for checks repeatedly — sometimes twice in a row: first at the main gate, then again at the building's door, to confirm they were actually staying at that hotel.
