Is Family Mirage hotel in Egypt good for families with kids?

TL;DR

The hotel works for families with kids — slides, pools, kids club, sandy lagoon. For younger children, nearby Ali Baba hotel is considered more family-oriented.

Stayed in August with two 10-year-old kids. Odd evening bar policy: children aren't allowed into the main bar (only from age 12-14), there's a separate kids' bar but parents can't enter it, and the beach bar also doesn't allow kids in the evening. Not enough evening seating for everyone. Overall the hotel feels adults-only at night despite being marketed as family-friendly.

A couple in their mid-40s were unhappy with the entertainment program and found no relaxation — the hotel is very busy with crowds and lots of kids, giving a 'summer camp' vibe. In their view it suits families with preschool-age children better than adults seeking a calm holiday.

Booked a package at the neighboring Aqua hotel, but at check-in asked to be moved to the first-line hotel (Family Mirage) — got moved for free with a family room. The first-line hotel has many families with kids, lots of pools and a big kids club, plus all concerts/entertainment happen there. Visited Aqua's water park once — kids found it boring.

In December the hotel had plenty of children, with organised kids' activities running regularly (e.g. pizza-making at the main pool bar). Families with children were happy with the stay. Highlights include the waterpark and very warm pools. December weather is comfortable with no oppressive heat; wind is only noticeable on the upper level near the pool by the restaurants.

Stayed in January with two teenage kids and were happy with the choice. Slides and pools were a hit, and the sea is excellent — there's a sandy lagoon as well as open water. Animators in January were energetic and kept the mood up. A big plus: guests can use three neighboring hotels — Palacio (livelier), Palma and Family Mirage (more relaxed). Food and bars were plentiful. The family returned for a second stay.

The hotel does have a kids club and playground. However, in December the guest mix was mostly adult couples with almost no children. Other guests were surprised to see families and suggested the nearby Ali Baba hotel as a better fit for families with young kids.
