TL;DR
Renovations at Egyptian resort hotels are manageable — the beach usually makes up for the inconvenience, though rooms and dining may be affected.
The hotel is still worth recommending despite its quirks. Rooms are overdue for a refresh, but the beach more than compensates for any shortcomings.
A current guest reports no major visible renovation work — just minor touch-ups and new shrubs being planted along the path to the sea.
Renovations are happening throughout the property. Club guests get sun loungers set up on the first beach line overnight; other guests are placed from the second line down to the lower pool area, sometimes directly on the grass. Due to the extensive works, meals are served only to those with beach towel cards, and service is sporadic.
