Should you buy a snorkel mask and tube in Egypt, or bring your own?

TL;DR
Reports on buying snorkelling gear in Egypt are mixed: one Egyptian set lasted for years, while masks from Mango Market performed poorly even when they were not the cheapest option. Bringing a tested traditional mask and snorkel is the safer choice; the discussions do not provide current shop prices in Egypt.
A previous purchase of two masks at Mango Market was disappointing: both were poor quality despite not being the cheapest options. Do not rely on a last-minute snorkel-mask purchase there.
A brand-new traditional snorkelling mask in size L–XL was offered for US$10. This was a private resale rather than a typical retail price in Egypt.
There is also a positive example: a mask-and-snorkel set bought in Egypt was still being used many years later. Good durable gear can be found locally, but its quality should be checked before buying.
