What happens if your Egypt visa expires — is there a grace period?

Overstay officially begins at 00:01 on the day after your visa expires. You must clear passport control before that moment. However, even after the overstay begins, Egypt allows an additional 14-day window to depart the country.

Passport control queues when leaving Egypt are generally not as long as expected — the process is roughly comparable to standard border control in other countries.

Previously, Egypt offered an expedited option to obtain a long-term visa (5 years) in approximately one to two weeks.
