TL;DR
Sunscreen and after-sun cream are sold in local pharmacies and small shops near hotels; prices can vary a lot (up to 2x) between nearby pharmacies, so it's worth comparing a couple before buying.
The pharmacy at the 'Oasis' hotel area has a decent selection; staff there recommended a local (not internationally known) sunscreen brand that worked well, bought it more than once.
If the nearest pharmacy has a limited selection, try a local shop or pharmacy and ask the pharmacist for a recommendation — they'll usually suggest an affordable local brand.
Sunscreen and after-sun cream prices at the pharmacy closest to the hotel were nearly twice as high as at a pharmacy a bit farther away — worth checking a couple of locations before buying.
Local pharmacies mainly stock sun protection products; you can also find common medications there, like antihistamine tablets (e.g. Zyrtec).
If you need a specific premium brand of sunscreen or medication not stocked locally, you may need to travel to a bigger pharmacy or store in another area.
