TL;DR
Shallow beaches in Egypt are great for kids — no need to worry about depth. Arrive early around 6am for a clean, uncrowded beach; staff rake and compact the sand throughout the day.
The beach is empty and peaceful in the early morning — arriving around 6am is ideal with kids. No crowds, calm water, and you have the whole beach to yourselves.
The beach is cleaned and sand is compacted regularly throughout the day. The water is very shallow — almost no depth — which is perfect for small children. Water level changes during the day: waist-deep in the morning, recedes at midday, and returns by evening.
To the left of the main beach there is a rocky section with cleaner water. Walking barefoot is uncomfortable — water shoes are recommended for adults. Kids tend not to mind the rocks at all.
There are water slides on the beach for children. The blue slide is slow and not very exciting, but the yellow slide is fast and popular with kids.
