Best fish and seafood restaurants near Hurghada fish market

They said Star Fish looks a bit more upscale, has plenty of tourists including Europeans, and that the restaurants have been around for about 30 years.

About alcohol: in October 2026 tourists said a café opposite the market would not let them drink alcohol, even though they had already ordered shrimp and fish. They moved to the neighbouring café, which allowed it without question. Rules can differ between neighbouring places.

Opinions on eating at the market itself in September 2026 were mostly positive: participants said the food is genuinely tasty and fresh, both tourists and locals eat there, and you can see everything being cooked hot in front of you. These are personal impressions, not a guarantee.

How to get there and what to expect (September 2026, walking from the Moreno hotel): leave by the far exit onto the Marina, go a little straight and then to the right — you will recognise the market by the smell and the cats. Inside, according to one review, it is cramped, stuffy and hot, with about 3 cm of water on the floor, and the choice is much the same at every stall. From the Moreno hotel, a September 2026 review says Sheraton Road, the Marina and the fish market are all close by — so the area is convenient for finding seafood restaurants.

Where the cooking is best: in August 2026 a participant recommended the first small café in the right-hand row of the fish market. You can eat there — both tourists and locals do — or ask for it to be packed to take away.

In September they advised checking in advance whether your hotel allows outside food — otherwise you may end up eating on the hotel steps; hotels that refused shrimp because they have their own seafood restaurant were also mentioned.
