Can you exchange money or use an ATM at Hurghada Airport?

Exchange rates at the airport's ATMs and at the visa-purchase bank windows are the official rate (not inflated), according to several travelers.

Some travelers report that Hurghada Airport ATMs can refuse to dispense cash to foreign-issued (non-Egyptian) cards — a friend was unable to withdraw. A bank representative confirmed there are restrictions specifically on foreign cards.

Hurghada Airport now has an ATM in the visa purchase hall, as well as another ATM on the ground floor in the baggage claim area.

When buying your visa at the airport, you can ask for change in Egyptian pounds instead of dollars — staff are usually happy to do this, especially if they're short on dollar change.

At the far-left visa counter (facing the booths), you can ask to exchange cash dollars into Egyptian pounds — the agent passes the money to a colleague who handles the exchange. Up to $300 has been exchanged this way.
