Guests in the 'Royal' category (e.g. Rixos Royal Monte Carlo) get free daily access to à la carte restaurants, unlike the standard 'Monte Carlo' category. Royal guests also have their own lounge restaurant, but it only serves breakfast and lunch — no full dinner, since in the evening its staff (including chefs) move to serve Royal guests at the à la carte restaurants. Each morning at breakfast, Royal guests are asked which à la carte restaurant they'd like to book for dinner; the alternative is the main shared buffet restaurant.

Royal category guests are identified by a wristband, but in common restaurants and bars this isn't always strictly enforced — staff sometimes rely on the wristband, and sometimes give better service to any guest simply for a $1-2 tip.
