How to get a taxi in Hurghada and how much does it cost to Senzo Mall?

Participants consider taxis booked at hotel reception the expensive option. In October 2026 the advice was to walk out of the hotel gate, where taxis wait: about 50 Egyptian pounds (EGP) was quoted to Senzo Mall. For comparison, the same traveler paid 150 EGP to the Sheraton Road area and 200 EGP back.

Some travelers arrange rides with a specific driver. In September 2026 travelers said they booked a driver whose number other tourists had shared: he drove them there, picked them up three hours later, and the whole trip cost $4. They communicated with him via WhatsApp.

Hotel and shop options: in late August 2026 a participant wrote that her hotel, if she remembered correctly, drives guests to Senzo Mall for about $10. In August and September 2026 participants also mentioned that Mango Market gives tourists a free ride to its store and back: message them on Telegram that you want to visit, and they offer a pickup time — it is best to write in the morning. There is a pharmacy next to the store.

Walking is also an option: in September 2026 a participant noted that Senzo Mall is about a 10-minute walk from the Ali Baba hotel, with a steady flow of tourists along the way. Another traveler was told in late August 2026 that the walk takes about 15 minutes if you enjoy walking. The distance depends on your hotel.

One experience of riding to Senzo Mall with InDrive (shared in August 2026 about a trip the year before): the app has a Russian-language option. The estimated fare was about 60 EGP, the travelers offered 100 themselves and ended up paying about $2. The car reached the hotel in 2 minutes. Reception had quoted about $10 for the same ride.

Street taxis are easy to find, but agree on the fare beforehand. In August–October 2026 participants advised not to accept the first price and to bargain; for the trip back from Sheraton Road you can catch a car right on the street. One tip was to get out of the taxi at your hotel first and only then hand over the agreed amount.

Taxis are reluctant to leave the city. In August 2026 participants wrote that Hurghada drivers are not keen to go to Makadi: InDrive refused the trip three times for one group of travelers. On the other hand, a participant said every hotel has its own taxi — pricier than app-based ones, but reliable.

Traveling with a small child: in August 2026 a participant advised choosing InDrive's Premium tariff and adding about 50 EGP on top, which gets a car faster. In her words, taxis have no child seats, so if a car seat matters to you, plan for it in advance.

A simple approach for a first ride: in August 2026 travelers suggested installing InDrive and, if anything is unclear, asking reception for help — staff can help book a car and tell you approximate prices, so you have something to compare drivers' offers against.

Uber is also used: in late August 2026 a ride to the Sheraton area cost about 120 EGP. Participants warned, however, that Uber drivers may refuse to drive for the app price and start haggling, and in July 2026 travelers complained that a car booked through Uber sat in place for a long time without moving.

If you take a taxi to the Sheraton area, for example for an evening stroll, a July 2026 tip was to go in the evening and give the driver the Segul hotel as a landmark.

The cheapest way around town is the shared minibus. In July 2026 a participant described them: you flag one down anywhere by raising your hand, they run frequently, and the fare is 5 EGP per person; passengers usually open the door themselves. The route in her description ran toward the Marina, El Mina Mosque and the Sheraton area.

You can also get a car without an app: in July 2026 travelers wrote that 1–2 taxis usually wait on the left just outside their hotel grounds, which they used to reach pharmacies and shops on Sheraton Road or Senzo Mall. In August 2026 a participant said that at another hotel taxis wait right on the grounds and will take you for about $1.

The main app is InDrive: in July 2026 a participant wrote that all Hurghada taxi drivers use it, payment is in cash, and it is worth confirming the fare with the driver again before getting in. In August 2026 travelers confirmed InDrive is convenient, and hotel reception can help if something is unclear and tell you approximate prices.
