TL;DR
At many Hurghada hotel jetties, the water can be 8–10 m deep immediately, with no reachable bottom. Do not jump or attempt a dive without training, pressure control and proper equipment; use a certified diving instructor for underwater activities.
Water beside a hotel jetty may become deep immediately: reported depths are around 8–10 m, and people jumping from the pier could not reach the bottom. Do not assume you will be able to stand up or regain balance on the seabed.
Do not rely on unverified devices for an independent dive. Without pressure monitoring, you cannot safely judge your remaining time or ascent margin; holding your breath during an emergency ascent from depth is particularly dangerous.
Even at 5–10 m, divers need to equalise pressure properly. If you cannot equalise your ears or sinuses, stop descending rather than forcing it, and ask a dive-centre instructor for help.
