TL;DR
The Sunny resort in Hurghada recently finished renovation — rooms and restaurants are updated, with a lagoon, several pools and a nearby aquapark; however occupancy just resumed and reviews are still mixed.
After a long shutdown the hotel just started taking guests again — occupancy is very low, this is the first month post-renovation, so impressions are mixed so far.
A repeat guest (visits every 2 months) praises the hotel: almost all rooms and restaurants have been renovated, food selection is varied (chicken, fish, meat, sides, desserts, seasonal fruit).
The hotel lagoon is deep enough to swim right away; on the other side of the building there's a shallow reef area good for watching fish. Several pools available, including a swim-up bar pool.
There's a small aquapark on-site, plus a bigger one across the road via underground crossing. The hotel is part of a 3-property chain with shared access to all facilities and restaurants.
In the evenings there's kids' animation followed by a show program; in summer there's a beach disco, other seasons it moves indoors. Live music with Russian songs plays nightly on the 2nd-floor bar.
Another traveler said at $120/night she'd rather pick a different hotel — she prefers to return only to genuinely great places on repeat trips.
For one room type the listed price was around $50/night, but travelers suggested haggling — a fair price is closer to $20.
