TL;DR

Contacting your rep or insurance gets you picked up and taken to a hospital fairly quickly, where you get tests, IV treatment and a diagnosis; you may stay in a private ward with meals included for a day or more, and get medication for the following days for free.

The response was fast — they stayed in constant contact and took the patient (a wife with symptoms) to hospital. Blood tests were done and treatment prescribed on the spot. About 24 hours were spent in a private ward with IV drips and injections, meals included, and a good night nurse. On discharge they were given a 5-day course of medication for free. Within a couple of days she was back to eating seafood and having wine.

Complaint of a sore throat after sleeping under strong AC all night — a common issue at Hurghada hotels; ask a pharmacy or the front desk for throat medicine and keep an eye on the room's AC temperature.

Another hospitalization case: several IV drips were administered, breakfast was brought to the ward, and they waited for the doctor's rounds. The whole night was spent in a private hospital room, with gradual improvement.
