TL;DR
Hotels in the Rewaya area offer good service but poor sea access — the water recedes far at low tide and there's nothing outside the resort. For actual swimming and beachside walks, choose a different part of Sahl Hasheesh.
At Siva Golden Bay, guests note several ways to enter the sea and a scenic bay; the water can be reached by stairs, a slide, or an electric cart. However, the rooms and cocktail selection are considered weak, while food is good but fairly basic.
Additional note on pontoon-access hotels: rooms are spacious, but even with a pontoon, whether you land directly in the sea or on sand still depends on the tide. Coral near shore is sparse. Service is good but has some downsides.
For proper sea entry directly from the shore, travelers recommend Barcelo (pricier) and Faraana (cheaper).
Two more budget options: Minamark — good for evening walks and nearby town life; Palm Beach — good for quiet beachside relaxation without crowds. Food at both is decent but simple.
Regarding shallow water complaints: at one of these budget hotels, depth starts right at the pier — staff reported around 10 meters there, and guests jump straight into the water from the pier. Rooms are bungalow-style with no corridor system.
Rixos 18+ review: disappointing hotel with poor food, and it's 'not about the sea' — worth going only if sea access and food don't matter and you just want the party atmosphere.
At Rixos 18+ the sea is usually open only in the afternoon, while at the neighboring Sungate (Seagate) the reef is better and the sea is more often open from the morning. The two hotels share infrastructure.
Arabia Azur is recommended: compact territory, first coastline (1.5 km), a private home reef, all rooms have sea views, close to the airport. Food is good but not outstanding.
If you want to avoid a long shallow entry, travelers recommend Sahl Hasheesh hotels with pier access: Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh and Gravity Sahl Hasheesh. These are mentioned as better options for proper swimming when quick access to deeper water matters.
Hotels in the Rewaya zone of Sahl Hasheesh have decent facilities and service, but the sea is essentially inaccessible — outside the resort there's only desert. If you want evening walks along a promenade or comfortable swimming with adequate depth, avoid this area. It only suits guests who plan to stay entirely within the resort.
When choosing a budget hotel in Sahl Hasheesh, the key factor is sea access at low tide — in many spots the water recedes up to 300 metres or more. Basic room requirements (a decent bed, shower, and clean bathroom) are enough if the sea is the main draw.
Budget accommodation options do exist in Sahl Hasheesh, but you need to specifically check sea depth near the shore and tidal behaviour before booking. Not all hotels in the area offer practical swimming access.
