Can tourists pay in US dollars at Fixed Price in Naama Bay and Mango Market in Sharm El Sheikh, and what currency is the change given in?

At Mango Market, if you pay in US dollars, change may be given in dollars too. In early August 2026 shoppers warned that the change included old dollar bills that are then refused everywhere else. If you receive change in dollars, check the notes right at the till.

A traveler who visited Sharm El Sheikh in October 2025 and again in April 2026 wrote that both times Fixed Price in Naama Bay accepted Egyptian pounds only. Another tourist recalled in July 2026 that a year earlier the shop had also taken pounds only.

In late July 2026 a participant wrote that they had seen a report that week claiming Fixed Price had started accepting US dollars as well. They had not checked it themselves and could not vouch for it. Other tourists suspected it might be just a rumor and asked those nearby to check in person; the question about dollars and other payment methods came up again in August and late September 2026. Until someone confirms it, it is safer to plan on paying in Egyptian pounds.
