TL;DR
Rules vary by hotel: at Grand Oasis in Sharks Bay, swimming was reportedly limited to the area around the jetty, while swimmers farther along the bay had fewer restrictions. Check buoy boundaries, permitted routes and currents with the lifeguards before swimming along the reef.
At Grand Oasis in Sharks Bay, free swimming along the reef was reportedly prohibited. Guests could stay about 50 m on either side of the jetty, in a narrow corridor between the reef and the buoys; management cited safety reasons.
According to a visitor report, the restriction in Sharks Bay applied to the Grand Oasis side. Swimmers farther along the bay, near the closed Royal Rodzhana section, were able to move more freely, but local conditions should still be checked on arrival.
The reef immediately by Diamond Beach was described as poor, so swimmers considered heading along the coast toward Monte Carlo or Ras Um Sid. Before attempting this route, confirm whether passing neighboring jetties is allowed and where currents are strongest.
