Does the tourist police in Sharm El Sheikh actually help with theft, lost items, or shop disputes?

Hotel security will step in to break up a conflict between guests, but they can't assign a personal guard to every guest at check-in — that level of protection doesn't exist at any hotel.

A traveler lost their phone and contacted tourist police — the phone was found and returned. The local man who picked it up was initially detained, but released after the traveler filed a statement saying she had no complaints against him.

After being pressured into buying something on a free Anex city tour, neither the hotel nor the tour guide would help get a refund. Calling tourist police through a hotel staff member worked: officers arrived within 30 minutes, and hotel/shop management personally drove the traveler to the store and refunded the full amount.
