TL;DR
Vegetables at local markets cost very little (10-20 EGP/kg), while fresh dates can be bought at Carrefour (~300 EGP per 0.5kg pack) or cheaper and tastier near the Geneena market.
Current vegetable prices: zucchini and tomatoes ~20 EGP/kg, fresh herbs (dill, cilantro) 5 EGP per bunch, iceberg lettuce and cabbage 12-15 EGP per piece regardless of size, small melon 40 EGP each.
Large dates (almost 1kg each) are sold near the Geneena market — the seller claims they can be eaten with the skin on, though most tourists still peel them. Very tasty and fresh.
Locals recommend buying dates in small sachet packs — a pack of 30 pieces costs around 750 EGP, price as of June.
Ripe dates can be found for about $3.33/kg — a buyer noted the taste stays memorable even thousands of kilometers away from Egypt.
Carrefour supermarket sells very fresh dates in 0.5kg packs for around 300 EGP.
