How much do short taxi rides cost in Sharm El Sheikh, and can you use InDrive from your hotel?

For a return journey, it is possible to arrange a car in advance: the driver collected the passengers from the Senzo Mall parking area at the agreed time, and the full trip cost $6 paid upfront.

As an alternative to a taxi for the short route from Safir toward the Coptic Church, board a minibus at its terminus and offer EGP 50 for two people; the driver took them directly without picking up other passengers or making further stops.

One traveler compared prices: an InDrive ride from the hotel cost $3, while regular taxis on the same day quoted $13–17 for a similar route. To book InDrive right at the hotel, they had to ask locals for wifi access.

InDrive works in Sharm, but not always from inside the hotel grounds, so some travelers walk to the edge of the property where mobile data is stronger. An evening ride was around $4–5 to the Grand Rotana area, and paying in Egyptian pounds is usually better value; daytime fares are often lower. If the app fails on the way back, regular taxis are easy to find in tourist areas and can be negotiated on the spot.

For very short distances in Sharm, a taxi can be as low as about $2. One example was a ride to Senzo in the afternoon heat, even though the destination was close enough that it could be walked in the evening.

There are usually regular taxis waiting outside hotels in Sharm El Sheikh, and you can often negotiate, especially if the driver sees you trying to book InDrive. A ride to Soho was settled at about $5, with no more than $1 suggested for a tip.
