How to avoid overcrowded beaches and pools at Sharm El Sheikh resorts in summer?

TL;DR
In July-August many resorts get very crowded due to an influx of domestic Egyptian and Gulf tourists — pick a quieter pool/beach zone or ask the hotel about crowd levels before booking.
The busiest spot is the main pool near reception. Quieter alternatives: the kids' pool near building 1, and a shallow section between buildings 2 and 5 (by the German restaurant and Castello, on the island) — the resort looks big but is actually compact.
Beach debris mostly drifts in from the nearby public city beach, but lifeguards regularly clean it up.
Ask the hotel about occupancy before check-in during summer — expect lots of families with kids and complaints about pool/table etiquette.
Beach and pool can be packed, but swimming out to the sunken pontoon or the wooden pier (~9 min) is doable, with fish visible near shore. Sea and pool water are very warm, almost bath-temperature. Water slides require a height of at least 140 cm.
One of the resort's pool/beach entrances was reported as dirty and overcrowded — if cleanliness matters, try to pick a room or area away from it.
