Is it safe to feed fish from beaches or jetties in Sharm El Sheikh?

Do not throw bread or other food to fish from the beach or jetty: it changes natural marine behaviour and can harm or kill fish.

Feeding small fish near shore is a safety issue: their crowded, erratic movement can draw larger predatory fish toward swimmers.

If you see someone throwing food into the sea from a jetty, tell a lifeguard or beach staff immediately; they are best placed to stop it.

Do not approach or try to touch reef fish, especially triggerfish; observe from a distance even when they appear calm. Rodjana and Gardens Bay were mentioned as areas where this has been an issue.
