TL;DR
At some Sharm El Sheikh beaches, pontoon access does not open until 8:00 am, and lifeguards may turn swimmers back at neighboring hotel boundaries. Check the permitted swimming zone with the lifeguard before attempting a long reef swim.
When swimming toward Sierra and along the reef, avoid lingering near the Four Seasons boundary: that hotel’s lifeguard may whistle and require you to return. If crossing is permitted, do not stop there and check the zone rules beforehand.
At one beach, guests were not allowed onto the pontoon or even the sandy water-entry area before 8:00 am. If you want an early-morning swim, confirm the pontoon opening time with beach staff in advance.
For morning reef swims, a thin 2 mm wetsuit can be practical: in roughly 29°C water it is not overly warm and helps reduce sun exposure during a long swim.
