TL;DR
Sea level in Sharm El Sheikh can vary noticeably by season: in summer and early September it may be much lower, while winter—especially December—typically brings water levels up by around one metre. Shallow water near jetties and reefs is temporary, but worth considering when choosing a hotel.
In early September, sea level in Sharm El Sheikh can be low enough that the tide is barely noticeable and the reef flat remains exposed. This matters most at hotels where swimming access depends on a long jetty.
Winter generally brings higher water than summer. Traveller observations indicate that by December the sea can be about one metre higher than in early autumn.
At the Rema hotel jetty, water in December 2025 reportedly almost reached the deck, while the coral platform was clearly exposed in September. If easy sea access is important, ask the hotel about current conditions for your exact travel dates.
