TL;DR
El Ezaby pharmacy chain sells at official printed prices and accepts cards. Russian Pharmacy in Naama Bay is convenient but double-check prices. Hotel-area pharmacies often quote inflated dollar prices — ask to pay in Egyptian pounds instead.
Further along Sheraton Street, there is a Russian Pharmacy branch with Russian-speaking staff; prices are shown directly on the medicine packages.
The pharmacy behind the Stella hotel is suitable only for urgent purchases, as its prices are higher than at fairly priced pharmacies. To save money, order from Russian Pharmacy or travel to another pharmacy.
As an alternative to Russian Pharmacy, near Palacio hotel: exit the hotel and turn left, walk about 150-200 meters to reach a hospital that has a pharmacy inside. Prices are rung up at the register and match the prices printed on packaging.
Update on the pharmacy to the left of the hotel: a recent report says it charged roughly ten times the official price—Antinal, officially about $1, was offered for $10, with additional medicines pushed on the customer. The medicine was instead ordered for delivery for EGP 52; delivery was free from a $25 order and Russian-language support was available.
Cross the street toward Sindbad Club, walk through the complex past the shops until they end, then turn right. About 20 m ahead is a pharmacy with Russian-speaking staff and factory-printed prices on medicines; the walk takes roughly 20 minutes.
Two pharmacies in front of Al Kasar were reported to sell medicines at the prices printed on the boxes. This does not necessarily apply to supplements and cosmetics, whose prices can vary substantially.
There is a pharmacy near the entrance to Dreams Beach. A recent visitor reported normal, cashier-registered prices there, including for panthenol lotion.
The corner El Ezaby pharmacy was recommended; according to a report, its online prices match the in-store prices, so costs can be checked in advance.
Russian Pharmacy branches carry Eutirox (thyroid medication); you can call ahead to check which specific branch has a given medicine in stock.
Pharmacies located right next to hotels (e.g., near reception) tend to overprice — one charged around $6 for Zodak/Zyrtec drops with no cheaper alternatives available. Fine only for emergencies; for fair prices go to Russian Pharmacy, Old Town, or Naama Bay instead.
The first pharmacy to the left of the hotel (checked in May) sells at the printed package prices with no relabeling — same as Russian Pharmacy, so no need to travel further.
One complaint claims Russian Pharmacy sometimes places stickers with a higher price over the factory-printed price on some items — peeling the sticker reveals the real, lower price, suggesting a markup.
At Il Mercato mall, the pharmacy right at the entrance on the right side reportedly overcharges; a bit further in, on the left, there's a trustworthy Russian Pharmacy branch.
Alyonka Pharmacy, located near the Fix Price store, has recently been reported to offer a free transfer for purchases of about $40 or more. This is useful if you prefer to visit in person rather than order delivery.
Pharmacies in the Sharks Bay area (the street between Xperience 4* and Grand Rotana 5*) have been reported to overcharge: they inflate both the dollar exchange rate and the pound price, claiming the printed price on the box applies only to government pharmacies. Arguing is pointless. Better to order delivery from Russian Pharmacy or travel to Naama Bay.
Near Zahabia hotel (opposite the new reception) there is a pharmacy with a Russian-speaking pharmacist who gives consultations and reminds customers to take their receipt. Two more well-regarded pharmacies are nearby on the same route.
Omar Omar pharmacy at Soho Square sells at the prices printed on the packaging — no difference from other honest pharmacies.
Russian Pharmacy offers a free transfer to their location for orders from $30. Alternatively, you can use the free transfer to Mango Market, where around five reliable pharmacies are located nearby.
On Egyptian medications the price is printed directly into the packaging (not a sticker), making it impossible to fake. Most medicines in Egypt are significantly cheaper than in Russia — by a factor of 2 to 10.
Russian Pharmacy has a Russian-language website with a full product catalogue and prices. You can search for a medication in advance, check prices, and add items to a cart. The site is also useful for verifying a quoted price when the pharmacist won't hand you the box.
