Can travelers with Crimea/Sevastopol-linked Russian documents enter Georgia overland or by car with Crimean plates?

In July 2026 a family with a child asked whether they would have problems at the Georgian border if their internal passport registration is in Sevastopol while their international passport was issued in Krasnodar Krai. A participant replied that with such passports you should enter only by air.

On land crossings, the reply in July 2026 was categorical: according to the participant, travelers with Crimea- or Sevastopol-linked documents will definitely be turned back at Georgia's land border. This is one person's statement rather than an official rule, so double-check it before traveling.

Asked whether one can drive into Georgia with Crimean plates from region 82, the same participant replied in July 2026 that Georgia does not recognize plates from regions 82 and 92.

According to the participant, this is not limited to Crimea: as they wrote in July 2026, Georgia also does not recognize plates and documents from the other territories annexed by Russia.
