Can you do visa runs in Georgia (Batumi) every 30 days to reset your stay?

Georgia does not operate like Serbia or Thailand when it comes to border runs. Many travelers assume a quick exit and re-entry resets the clock with no issues, but that assumption is wrong here.

After 183 days in Georgia you become a tax resident, which changes your legal status and creates obligations. This is fundamentally different from a simple 30-day visa-free stay as in Serbia.

There is an informal concept of 'tourist status abuse'. If Georgia is your primary country of residence, authorities expect you to obtain a residence permit rather than doing repeated border runs.

A border run via Sarpi (bus #16 to the Turkish border) is technically possible, but repeated trips carry a real risk of being denied re-entry. Georgia has the legal right to refuse entry.

The safe strategy is to leave Georgia no more than once every six months. More frequent border runs significantly increase the chance of problems at the checkpoint.
