How can I check for traffic fines on a car with foreign (e.g. Russian) license plates in Georgia?

Reports on whether the fine-check site is reachable are mixed. In early July 2026 one participant wrote that the site had been fixed about two weeks earlier and now opened from any country, including Russia. The same day another traveler said the check failed because of their VPN, and on 18 and 30 July two drivers wrote that the site would not open for them even through a VPN. If the page does not load, try both with and without a VPN, or ask someone in Georgia to check for you.

To check remotely, a driver in July 2026 messaged the fine-check bot with the plate number and the registration certificate number in Latin letters, without spaces. The message was read but no reply came right away, so they also asked people currently in Georgia to look up fines using their details. If you need the answer quickly — for example, before driving back into Georgia — do not rely on the bot alone.

Another site mentioned for checking fines is videos.police.ge (add ?lang=en for English) — though one traveler reported being unable to access it even with a VPN and asked someone physically in Georgia to check on their behalf.

A fine can also be issued when you leave. In August 2026 a traveler said they stayed in Georgia a few days longer than planned, their car insurance expired, and they were fined at the border when crossing back into Russia. They could not pay it online through any website or service — neither with an international Visa card nor with cards issued by Russian banks. If your trip runs longer, extend the car insurance in advance.
