How to buy train tickets from Tbilisi to Baku or Yerevan online?

The official reply from ADY support received by a participant on September 11, 2026: Baku–Tbilisi tickets are available until October 30, while all Tbilisi–Baku tickets until October 30 have been sold. Tickets for later dates are released gradually, so they recommend checking availability regularly. Another participant noted the same day that Baku–Tbilisi tickets were available for every day two months ahead.

Why this happens, one participant explained in September 2026: from Georgia into Azerbaijan the land border can only be crossed by train, while in the opposite direction there are other options. That, in his view, is why Tbilisi–Baku tickets sell out at once while Baku–Tbilisi tickets stay on sale. This is a participant's explanation, not official information.

Where to buy: tickets for the Tbilisi–Baku train are sold by the Azerbaijani side, as it is their train, so look on the Azerbaijani Railways (ADY) website. That is how participants answered in late August and September 2026; one couple bought Baku–Tbilisi tickets there and noted that tickets in the other direction are sold on the same site.

On sales windows: in mid-August 2026 a traveler saw Tbilisi–Baku tickets on the website only from early October, with none left for late September; he mentioned having read that sales open 45 days in advance.

In August 2026 travelers wrote that Baku is not listed as a destination on Georgian railway websites, and the tickets could not be found in the app either. At that time the ADY website only offered Baku–Tbilisi tickets.

In July 2026 the ADY website showed Tbilisi–Baku tickets for early August as sold out, while there were plenty of Baku–Tbilisi tickets; according to information a traveler found online, buses were not running at the time. In mid-September a company running Tbilisi–Baku bus transfers told a traveler that the border was closed, and there were no train tickets in the needed direction for October 20–21.

Tickets sometimes appear unexpectedly. In mid-July 2026 a participant wrote that two days earlier there had been lots of Tbilisi–Baku tickets: as he understood it, something had happened in one region of Azerbaijan, a train there had stopped running, and its carriages were moved to the Tbilisi route.
