TL;DR
Nungnung Waterfall is a powerful, relatively quiet choice, especially on a route from Amed to south Bali via Kintamani. Kanto Lampo can close temporarily after heavy rain, so check its status before travelling.
Nungnung Waterfall is a particularly dramatic option, with a powerful flow, cooler mountain air, and very few visitors in the morning. It fits well into a drive from Amed toward Kuta via Kintamani, where temperatures can drop from about 32°C in Amed to 22°C around Kintamani.
Kanto Lampo Waterfall may be closed the day after heavy rain for safety reasons. Do not rely on a walk-in visit—check whether the entrance is open on the morning of your trip.
After rain, the path down to a waterfall can still be accessible, while the falls themselves become much more powerful. Wear non-slip footwear and assess conditions on arrival, especially when the flow is strong.
