How do resort transfers work in the Maldives, and what to do if you didn't pre-book one?

For example, guests of Angsana Velavaru who missed pre-booking a transfer are advised not to look for options on their own at the airport, but to contact the resort directly — access is usually via a domestic flight to the nearest airport (Kaadedhdhoo), then by speedboat to the island.

There is no independent transfer market in the Maldives — no taxi drivers or agencies offering to get you to your resort outside of the resort itself. All transfer logistics (seaplane, domestic flight, speedboat) are handled exclusively by the resort you booked.
