Flying to Mahe via Abu Dhabi with Etihad: is baggage checked through, and do you get a hotel if you miss the connection or have a long layover?

In October 2026 a participant explained how the connection works when departing Mahe: baggage is checked through to the final destination, but the boarding pass is issued only to Abu Dhabi. The second boarding pass is obtained on the Etihad website or at the boarding gate during the connection.

In July 2026 travelers flying out of Mahe on Air Seychelles to Abu Dhabi and then onward with Etihad said they checked bags of 25 kg and 10 kg under a combined 40 kg allowance, and the baggage was accepted without any fuss.

According to one family (July 2026), on another Etihad route with a 1 hour 10 minute connection they missed the transfer, and the ticket was simply changed to the next Etihad flight with no problems. For their September trip to Mahe the same family chose a 13-hour overnight connection in Abu Dhabi and planned to sleep at a hotel.

A participant wrote in July 2026 that if you miss the Abu Dhabi–Mahe flight because of a short connection, Etihad will provide a free hotel. In September 2026 another participant added that Etihad has one flight a day to Mahe: you may unintentionally spend a day in Abu Dhabi at the airline's expense, but lose money or your hotel and car bookings on Mahe.
