TL;DR
Eden Island is a quiet, safe area with its own beaches, restaurants and shops, though housing there is pricier. Beau Vallon is a touristy town with a lively beach and hotels like Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort.
For a bigger budget, consider Four Seasons — reportedly the best beach on Mahe (fine white sand, both waves and calm spots, boulders, good snorkeling). Location is convenient, close to most beaches except Beau Vallon and Anse Majna. Downsides: mediocre service, housekeeping issues, ants in the room, unkempt grounds, and disappointing dinners. The Savoy wing is not recommended.
Avani+ Barbarons is mentioned as convenient if you have a car, though there are no good cafes nearby.
Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino is considered a decent option, with a fine beach right in front.
Before renting on Eden Island, check your budget first — it's one of the pricier areas.
Eden Island is described as quiet and safe, with its own restaurants, shops, and beaches.
Beau Vallon is called a touristy town — lively, with many hotels and places catering to visitors.
Staying in the Anse La Le area at a good hotel — visited the nearby beach only once; decent, but there are better beaches around.
