TL;DR

You can arrange for a Colombo hotel to receive your suitcase in advance if they agree. Dormex was recommended for island-wide delivery, starting at LKR 500 for the first kilogram plus LKR 200 per additional kilogram.

Ask your Colombo arrival hotel in advance whether it can receive your suitcase before you return. A traveller arranged this directly with their hotel, allowing them to continue their trip without the luggage.

For forwarding a large suitcase within Sri Lanka, consider Dormex. It was used to send luggage from Trincomalee to Colombo, and the company was reported to have branches in several cities.
