TL;DR
Recent reports say that algae and occasional small pieces of litter can collect at the shoreline, particularly at low tide, while the water farther out is usually clearer. Visitors did not report bad smells, and entering from a pier can help avoid the affected shallows.
In late September, low tide left algae and isolated litter along the waterline. The water looked clear a little farther out, and entering from a pier was a practical alternative to the shallows.
During the second half of June, litter appeared in the sea periodically and was noticeable while swimming; no issues with biting fish were reported.
Late-July feedback noted that small litter can occasionally wash ashore, a situation also seen at other resorts. No unpleasant smell from the water or beach was reported.
In June, floating litter in Alanya was reported only occasionally and was not considered a major disruption to a beach holiday.
