Can you pay in USD or EUR at shopping malls in Antalya, or do you need Turkish lira?

The general advice from participants in October 2026: some places may take dollars, but the rate they apply is arbitrary. To avoid hassle, change money into lira and pay with that — exchange offices in Antalya are on every corner.

In grocery chains you may be able to pay in euros and get change in lira. In late August 2026 a traveler bought groceries at a nearby Şok store in Antalya with euros and received change in lira at a rate of 1:52.

If a shop takes dollars, the rate can differ a lot. In mid-August 2026 a traveler noted that LC Waikiki had the best rate among shops and Migros a worse one; on her last visit the dollar was worth about 47 lira. Confirm the rate at the checkout before paying.

About the departures duty free at Antalya airport, a participant replied in late July 2026 that dollars are accepted but paying in euros works out cheaper: she bought perfume in dollars and it ended up costing more than it would have in euros.

A confirmed example for IKEA Antalya: in early July 2026 travelers wrote that you can pay at the checkout in US dollars and euros — they had paid there in cash themselves earlier that week.
