Does Selectum Family Resort in Belek have rough waves, or should I pick a bay-type hotel with calm sea instead?

Selectum Family Resort's beach is open with no pier or breakwaters: waves show up almost daily after 9am, calm sea only in early morning. Water is warm, around +28°C.

Sea entry at Selectum is steep — 5-7 steps and then depth, with a strip of pebbles and stones near shore. Uncomfortable for kids and non-swimmers; water shoes recommended.

The water at Selectum's beach can be a bit murky due to the local sand and runoff from the river that flows through the resort grounds.

If you need calm, wave-free water, consider bay-style resorts like Oz Incekum or Eftalia Ocean with breakwaters instead of Selectum.

Lonicera Resort & Spa in Avsallar (Alanya) sits in a bay — the sea is almost always calm with virtually no waves, so you can swim late into the evening. Only a couple of rough days were noted over several years, in August 2025.

Downside of Lonicera's calm bay: by midday the water near shore gets murky from sand stirred up by many swimmers, and depth near shore is shallow — better to swim near the buoys, 20-30 meters out.
