TL;DR
Belek beach is shallow for a long stretch. Depth near piers is around 1.5–2.5 meters. Water clarity varies — it can be murky near shore even at piers during calm conditions, while rough seas can still leave the water clear further out.
At Barut beach the water is clean despite a nearby river — a dam diverts the river in the opposite direction, so it does not mix with the sea.
The sea entry is gradual: the shore has large pebbles, which get smaller in the water, and the depth increases slowly — it does not get deep right away.
The main open beach has a very long shallow entry — you have to walk quite far before the water gets deeper. Sun loungers are placed well back from the waterline.
At the Greenmax pier during flat calm conditions, the depth is around 1.5 meters, but the water was murky from the shoreline all the way to the end of the pier.
A couple of kilometers along the beach from Belek, a pier offers around 1.5 meters depth at the sides and 2–2.5 meters at the end. Even during rough seas the water was clear enough to see crabs on the bottom.
