Are pharmacy prices fixed in Turkey, and which pharmacies are recommended?

You can look up a medicine's price in advance on the ilacabak website, a participant advised in June 2026. In September another traveler added that prices are regulated in lira and can be checked online beforehand. One participant noted that in some cases prices can be inflated.

There was also contrary experience. In June 2026 a traveler was surprised that pharmacies had no price tags on medicines: you have to ask the pharmacist, and different pharmacies quoted him different amounts for the same drug. In that case it helps to check the price online beforehand; in September another participant added that a little bargaining is still possible.

Paying in lira is better. A participant in June 2026 wrote that when paying in lira you can rely on the regulated prices from the website. In September a traveler explained further: if you pay in dollars, each item is first rounded to dollars and then multiplied and added up, whereas in lira the total is calculated without rounding. If you are buying a lot, exchange money into lira in advance.

In June–July 2026 several participants confirmed that medicine prices are the same across Turkish pharmacies: medicines are under state control and pharmacies cannot change their price. Prices of supplements, cosmetics and other goods can vary, so compare those across a few pharmacies.

So, in participants' view, any nearby pharmacy will do. In June 2026 one of them used a pharmacy on the clock square next to an A101 store, another a pharmacy 'on the hill': a short walk, and they order in medicines that are out of stock. These landmarks refer to their own neighborhood; the city was not named.
