TL;DR
eSIM works on the beach and pier where hotel Wi-Fi doesn't reach. On Tripcom you can get 9 GB for a very low price — well worth it for beach connectivity.
Hotel Wi-Fi worked well for most of the trip but started dropping frequently on the last day, likely due to heavy load. On the beach it barely works. An eSIM purchased on Tripcom worked great throughout — 9 GB for under 300 RUB.
The whole group experienced the same issue: signal dropped as soon as they moved away from the dining area. On the beach it was almost gone, on the pier — completely. One person with an eSIM had no problems at all, even on the pier. It's affordable and worth getting.
Hotel internet cut out just past the dining area. On the beach it was nearly unusable, and on the pier there was no signal at all. This was observed during a late May to early June stay.
