TL;DR
Travelers aged 18+ can generally bring alcohol for personal use: up to 1 litre of spirits or up to 2 litres of drinks up to 22% ABV. A separate allowance of up to 5 litres of wine is commonly stated; excess may be confiscated.
For whisky, vodka, rum and other spirits, allow up to 1 litre per traveler aged 18 or over. The alcohol should be for personal use.
Instead of spirits, travelers can bring up to 2 litres of alcoholic drinks at 22% ABV or below, such as beer, cider or some liqueurs. This is the alternative allowance for lower-strength drinks.
Wine has a separately stated allowance of up to 5 litres. If you bring more, customs may treat it as exceeding the personal allowance and confiscate part of it.
