TL;DR
Old but cozy hotel: small rooms, stuffy elevators, but good home-style food and cleanliness. Main downside is noisy boat/jet-ski rentals right on both sides of the beach.
Overall the hotel doesn't smell bad, but there's an odor near the restaurant entrance and the elevator is stuffy. Don't expect a 'wow' effect, but it's decent for the price.
Guests who stayed back in 2023 report the elevators were already hot and stuffy — a long-standing issue at this hotel.
Sherwood Hotel is old but cozy. This year the main lobby is cooler than before, but the elevators remain stuffy with long waits — in the central building, near the bar, and in the side wing.
Tip: book a room on floor 4 or lower in the semi-circular building — the corridors there aren't stuffy, unlike the side wing where even larger rooms feel stuffy.
Rooms are small, just enough for two people, but everything works fine: comfortable mattresses, good housekeeping, friendly and accommodating staff.
Food at the main restaurant is good home-style cooking: stewed dishes in clay pots, tasty watermelon, cherries, kiwi, fresh oven-baked pizza and pide. Downsides: occasional flies over the salads and the AC makes it a bit cold.
Towels are only issued from 8:00 to 18:00 and only at the pool kiosk — there's none at the beach, so you need to carry them yourself. The beachside snack bar is dark and uncomfortable with a mostly pizza/burger menu; the main restaurant is a better choice.
The main drawback is boat and jet-ski rental stands on both sides of the beach — they rev loudly with music from early morning and sometimes drift into the swimming zone. It's safer and more spacious to pick sun loungers in the middle-left area of the beach.
