Can Turkish Airlines check baggage through to my final destination on separate tickets when connecting at Istanbul Airport (IST)?

TL;DR
With two separate tickets, through-checking baggage is not guaranteed and must be confirmed by Turkish Airlines at Vnukovo. If your bag is tagged to the final destination and you already have the next boarding pass, use the transit route at IST; collecting and rechecking baggage may be difficult in a 1 hour 20 minute layover.
In a recent experience, Turkish Airlines at Vnukovo checked baggage through to the final destination despite separate bookings, where both segments were operated by Turkish Airlines. The check-in desk handled it without difficulty, although telephone support had not confirmed it in advance.
For connections at IST under 90 minutes, passengers may use a separate priority security lane, potentially saving around five minutes. Golf carts may also wait near gates for travellers with short connections when the next gate is far away.
At the Turkish Airlines desk in Vnukovo, show both bookings and ask for your bag to be tagged to the final airport. Even when both flights are operated by Turkish Airlines, separate tickets normally require the agent to confirm through-checking.
If the baggage tag shows the final destination and you have a boarding pass for the second flight from online check-in, follow the Transit/Transfers signs at Istanbul Airport rather than going to baggage reclaim.
A 1 hour 20 minute connection at IST is practical only if baggage is checked through. If you must collect and recheck your suitcase, the time may be insufficient, particularly on separate tickets.
