If the M11 metro to Istanbul Airport is down, take tram T1 to Aksaray and catch a Havaist bus, or take the Marmaray to Yenikapı then metro to Aksaray. Another option is the Havaist BN1 bus from Çatladıkapı.

The most convenient route from Sultanahmet: take the Havaist bus on the Çatladıkapı/Sultanahmet route, get off at Eminönü/Sirkeci, then transfer to tram T1 toward Sultanahmet. This is cheaper and the transfer is easier. Make sure to tell the bus driver your stop in advance.

When the M11 line is down, two main alternatives exist: 1) Take tram T1 to Aksaray, then a Havaist bus to IST Airport. 2) Take the Marmaray from Sirkeci to Yenikapı, then metro to Aksaray, then Havaist. You can also board the Havaist BN1 bus directly from Çatladıkapı.
