Is Yandex Metro accurate for getting from Kadıköy to Sabiha Gökçen Airport by metro/Marmaray, and do any transfers require walking outside?

Opinions on using maps offline differed in September 2026: one participant wrote that Yandex and Google Maps downloaded in advance show your location but will not build a walking route without a connection, and suggested Maps.me with offline maps (its public transport covers only metro and trams). If you first walk to the metro and go to the airport by rail, you get two changes: metro, then Marmaray, then metro again. That is how participants described the route in July 2026, recommending that you plan it in the Yandex Metro app; Yandex Maps also showed one traveler a route with two changes.

In June 2026 a traveler wrote that Yandex Metro’s times matched reality for her — but only for the ride itself, not counting transfers between lines. Add extra time for changes on top. As an example she cited a Marmaray stretch of about 14 stations: around 40 minutes, which in her experience is realistic.

The same traveler said Yandex Metro shows the segment from Ayrılık Çeşmesi station to Sabiha Gökçen Airport correctly. In June 2026 she rode from Kadıköy to the airport in about 50 minutes; a route one station shorter should, in her estimate, be slightly faster.

The metro is the cheapest but not the most convenient option. In June 2026 the traveler who compared travel times wrote that the Havaist airport bus is clearly more convenient, and that saving around 250 lira by skipping it is, in her opinion, hardly worth it.
