TL;DR
Kabataş now has the free Istanbul Bosphorus Museum, with a panoramic terrace and an exhibition on the strait’s history. Other options include Istanbul Modern’s large-scale Under One Blue exhibition and a cello concert at Pera Museum on 24 September.
The new municipal İstanbul Boğaz Müzesi (Istanbul Bosphorus Museum) is inside the Kabataş transport hub. Its opening exhibition, Mehtabı Sürükledik Sularda: Bir Boğaziçi Hikâyesi, compares the 18th–19th-century Bosphorus with today’s city through paintings, maps, prints and photographs. Admission is free; it is closed on Mondays and has a Bosphorus-view terrace.
Istanbul Modern is showing Under One Blue, a collection exhibition tracing Turkish contemporary art from the 1940s to the present. Spread across four floors, it includes 230 works by 119 artists, with 43 works on public display for the first time.
On 24 September at 19:30, Pera Museum hosts From Barrière to Kodály: Three Cellos within its Crossroads: Ambassadors and Painters exhibition. Cellists from Hungary and Turkey will perform in the gallery itself, surrounded by artworks.
